Reception

Our Reception department continues from where your child's Nursery or childminder experience has left off. The children learn through experiences and play, with a 'free-flow' environment, both indoor and outdoor. They are encouraged to pursue their own interests as well as being introduced to topics from our curriculum to further their learning. Reception have daily phonics using the Essential Letters and Sounds Programme. For more details, please go to the 'Phonics' page.

Teaching inputs start off quite short at the beginning of the year, in line with the children's age and needs, and lengthen through the year as appropriate, ready to transition into Year 1. Parents are invited to sign up for the Tapestry app in order to receive regular updates on their child's progress, including photos and video.
