Year 1
Introduction
Hello and welcome to the exciting and inspiring world of Year 1!
In Year 1 our children use their 5Rs to expand their knowledge whilst growing in confidence and independence. During the transition from Reception to Year 1, we enjoy a Continuous Provision approach to learning. This free flow environment supports our children to learn through exploration of key resources and activities.
We go on journeys with adventurous characters in English, explore our local area in Geography, build functional structures in DT and develop our number knowledge using a range of resources in Maths. In the Summer Term we immerse ourselves in nature by exploring our meadow during Forest School sessions. This allows us to develop skills such as communication, problem solving and assessing risks. We love learning about the vast variety of plants and animals that call Chepping View their home.
Our Academy motto is ‘Everybody Matters at Chepping View’. The teachers and teaching assistants in Year 1 work together to ensure all children feel nurtured and inspired to carry this with them during their Primary journey and beyond.
It is important to us that we create a home/school collaboration, whereby parents and carers are involved in their child’s learning, supporting them on their academic journey. To gain understanding of what we learn across each term, you can visit our Academy website to access information and resources for our Year 1 Curriculum.
